"The exact moment any decision seems to be being made, it's usually long after the real decision was actually made--like light we see emitted from stars."

A Philosophy

"Let art be a source of energy and approach it without any preconceived ideas. To surround oneself with quality (not necessarily rare) objects is paramount in creating an art of living. This 'art' is a harmony between our material and spiritual needs.

Gathering art objects is more than merely collecting them. Various objects seek a silent dialogue. Nothing clashes within the setting of an abstract painting and the modest handcrafted antique. Their direct confrontation has a cross-fertilizing effect, where modesty may marry richness. As well, in the ideal house, there will hopefully be an interdependent relationship between the architecture and its dwellers. Furniture and objects are assembled like friends who mutually enrich one another--and coming full circle, architectural objects thus become paintings and sculpture to reveal the soul and open a world of paths one may travel."

In the Summer 1999 issue of Art News, Guy and Nora were included in the list of the world's top 200 collectors. Christie's Deputy Chairman of Post-War & Contemporary Art, Brett Gorvy, interviewed Guy about his family's history of art collecting in general, and in particular about a Warhol self-portrait that was in the Barron collection, and you can see that interview here

In the spring and summer of 2009, over 40 pieces from Guy and Nora's collection were on display at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University in the exhibit, "Contemporary Art from the Barron Collection."

Currently, Guy is working on the "C Project," a bold experiment combining a holographic process with the efforts of some of the more significant contemporary artists, including, among others, Richard Artschwager, John Baldessari, Louise Bourgeois, Chuck Close, Malcolm Morley, Ed Ruscha, Robert Ryman, and James Turrell. Their efforts, often in group settings, led to transferring their own creative signatures into a 21st Century medium. This new medium will be added to their full oeuvres.
